It is nothing new for the UCLA Luskin Conference Center and Hotel to set up large events and welcome guests for a special occasion. It is also not unusual for Luskin Banquet team to prepare and serve an array of delicious foods to a large group. So, when the Luskin Conference Center and Hotel started offering wedding packages, couples started saying ‘I do.’
American naturalist John Muir once said:“Wherever we go in the mountains, we find more than we seek.” For guests at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge, going to the mountains comes with an opportunity to find a deeper connection with the land, its history and themselves.
Summer 2020 came and went. And then summer 2021 did the same. No in-person conferences and events. No guests filling UCLA’s walkways, event spaces and on-campus residences. No delivery vans filled with delicious meals ready to be sent out, set up and served. In summer 2022, that all changes, much to the delight of the entire UCLA Conferences & Catering team.
The UCLA Guest House opened its doors in late April, more than two years after shuttering its doors due to the pandemic. When news of a return to business was made known, bookings started flooding in, said Richard McPhee, general manager of the Guest House.
From the moment the Cincinnati Bengals touched down in Los Angeles to the morning they left to return home on Feb. 14, the Luskin Hotel and Conference Center was awash in “Who Dey” energy.
“This was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate excellent hospitality and service, and show the world that we are an amazing venue for individuals, events and programs of all sizes and types,” said Tony Perrone, general manager of the Luskin Hotel and Conference Center, adding that the hotel worked with NFL Media to transform the hotel.
With 119 NCAA championship titles, UCLA Athletics has a rich history and an exciting future. Gymnastics (see schedule) and men’s basketball (see schedule) are just two areas in which UCLA athletes excel and fans take note – and they’re both currently in season.
“It was so great to be with the people I work with since we’re all working at home.”
“It made me happy.”
“We’re so glad we won.”
“We’ll be back.”
These are just a few of the comments shared by faculty and staff at the University of California, San Francisco, after joining forces with colleagues to compete in a campus-wide virtual escape room facilitated by UCLA Conferences & Catering.
After two years of having to postpone or cancel weddings due to the pandemic, many couples are finally putting plans in motion to walk down the aisle and say ‘I do.’ And some are doing it at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge, a 50-acre venue high in the San Bernardino Mountains where everything from micro-weddings right up to exclusive use packages involving the entire 50-acre property and all its amenities for nearly three full days are inspiring peoples’ imaginations, said Carol Brown, event sales manager.

“We are really excited to help couples start this next phase of their lives together at such a special place,” said Brown, who is currently booking weddings, conferences and other events for later this year and beyond.
Since beginning her role at the Lake Arrowhead Lodge six months ago, Brown has been speaking with couples who are eager to hold their nuptials at this unique location, especially those seeking a location where their friends and families can watch them exchange their vows, enjoy world-class cuisine, stay overnight in cozy two bedroom chalets (many of which have fireplaces and decks that overlook the lake and mountains) and enjoy fun outdoor activities before and after the ceremony.

The Lodge offers a beautiful location for your wedding reception
Brown notes that the Lake Arrowhead Lodge is one of the only venues around where couples can actually make the entire property their own from Friday at 4 p.m. to Sunday at 1 p.m. if they want to. “You’re able to come in on Friday, have your rehearsal dinner, then have your wedding on Saturday – and that includes your accommodations, wedding reception and a wedding brunch on Sunday – and then all the activities on top of that,” she said, adding that yoga, modern or traditional art classes, hiking and gathering around the campfire for laughs over s’mores are all options.
“It is truly an incredible destination for weddings of all sizes and budgets. It’s such a gorgeous property and we’re so happy to share it with our guests.”
